Why So Scared?

The world is not an open place. Most people are living scared. Most people don't know if their everyday decisions are right or wrong. Most people don't even have a reference to judge between right and wrong. Most people are just following social norms. Social norms are most people's safety net. The moment they go out of it, they are frowned upon by everyone, even by their own family — parents, siblings, friends. Families, like everyone else, have to conform to social norms. That's where everyone extracts value in their life, right? People feel valuable when other people think well of them. They are good at following norms laid out by our elders, which now are hidden forces silently directing our lives down that path.

But if someone decides to question the social norms, people are quick to question their sanity. Even such a person themselves would question their own sanity. How do we then break free from this cycle? Let's be allowed to make mistakes. Let's not be quick to judge others. Let's be honest about our mistakes. Let's tell our true stories to our families. Let's seek and give genuine advice to each other. Let's not speak badly about each other. Let's stop being scared.
